Breast reductions and breast lifts are similar procedures. A breast reduction involves both reducing the size of the breasts as well as lifting them and making them more perky. A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure for restoring the breasts to a more youthful, projecting shape and position. It is used to treat "droopy" breasts, or breast ptosis. Breast ptosis is seen in women who breast fed their children, in patients who have lost a lot of weight, and as part of the normal aging process. An exciting type of breast lift offered exclusively at the Kryger Institute is the Autoaugmentation procedure. In this procedure, the surgeon uses your own tissue and shapes it into an "implant." The tissue is rearranged so that the new "implant" is positioned behind the nipple, giving it the shape and projection of an augmented breast.
