Education & Training
Gil Kryger, M.D… has trained at the premier medical schools and plastic surgery programs in the country. He went to medical school at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. He did his internship, and residencies in General Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He also completed his residency in Hand and Microsurgery at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Kryger moved to Israel as a child, growing up in Haifa. After high school he served in an elite combat unit of the Israeli Army for over three years. He then moved to California for college at the University of California in Santa Barbara. Dr. Kryger graduated in three years at the top of his class and was accepted to medical school at the top ranked University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. At UCSF he excelled and was once again ranked near the top of his class. He performed research in Plastic Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery with such notable surgeons as Dr. Harry Buncke and Dr. Stephen Mathes.
Dr. Kryger was then accepted to the West Coast’s most prestigious residency program in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Stanford University in Palo Alto.
During those six years he trained under some of the most renown cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons in the United States including Dr. Ron Gruber (rhinoplasty), Dr. Bud Alpert (face lifting), Dr. Lorne Rosenfield (eyelid surgery) and Dr. Rod Hentz (Hand Surgery). He then pursued specialized fellowship training in both hand surgery at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute (SCOI) and microsurgery at the University of Southern California.
Dr. Kryger in one of a small group of Hand Surgeons that have training in both Plastic Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery of the hand. Dr. Kryger’s interests include rhinoplasty and eyelid surgery, microsurgical breast reconstruction (DIEP flaps), breast augmentation, body contouring and hand surgery. He is highly trained in microsurgery, and the use of this advanced technique for treating complex reconstructive problems. Dr. Kryger has a strong commitment to research and has published numerous scientific articles in peer reviewed journals, and delivered many award-winning presentations at national meetings. He is married to Ella and has three beautiful children.
